Gant – A Success Colthing Story



April 1949, was the year when Bernard Gantmacher decided to start a clothing brand under his label.  His two sons Marty and Elliot supported him. Earlier the town of New Haven was known as the hub for the clothing industry. This is because most of the skilled Italian immigrants specialized in designing clothes shifted there. The labor was cheap, and the demand was more. Thus Gantmacher had no trouble in stitching garments and meeting the requirements. However, there were some tough roads taken by the Gantmacher’s family in sustaining the family business, but Bernard’s two sons were born as a blessing to his business.



Gantmacher’s Two Pillars
 Bernard Gantmacher and his wife Rebecca brought up two brilliant boys in their family. Marty was born in the year 1921, and Elliot was born in the year 1926. The interest shown by the boys at the factory, expectations of expanding this business grew in the family. The boys would spend their time sweeping and fusing collars. The boys also kept track of the fashion course at the Yale University which they believed would change the history of the American fashion, but Life had other plans for the boys, World War II broke and both boys were asked to serve in the army.

 The boys didn’t lose hopes after losing their opportunity to go to Yale University. They returned home after the war and pursued their career at the University of Connecticut. Marty completed his course in business administration and Elliot finished his course in Marketing. Now with such high education qualifications, both the boys went back to continue their family business. They saw the American fashion trend changing. Thus, they convinced their father Bernard Gantmacher, to start his znackove obleceni. Bernard Gantmacher bought his son’s suggestion and thus began the brand Gant.
